LRB Portfolio, LRB Exhibition and LRB Showcase are now being sold through Photographers Toolbox. This allows far more flexibility in updates, and gives opportunity for a demo version. Lost serials can also be regained through the plugin interface.
Current users can enter their paypal email into the form that the plugin takes you too and get a serial number.

You may notice that the cart buttons on my 3 plugins have gone and a new link is there instead. Well I’m moving over to Photographers Toolbox for these. It’s not officially announced yet, because there’s still a bunch of work to do with transferring all the previous buyers to the new system. As Photographers Toolbox is on an Admin holiday, it’ll be next Monday at the earliest!

This doesn’t work with Lightroom 4!

I’ve had this email from a few people recently, so I thought I’d clear it up

First up: it DOES work with Lightroom 4. LRB Portfolio, LRB Exhibition and LRB Showcase all work correctly with Lightroom 4. This is the current version available at the download link you got on purchase (which is always the current version-it gets overwritten each time).

It seems that Lightroom 4 doesn’t change file associations correctly, so double clicking on the .lrwebengine file tries to launch Lightroom 3.

If you have Lightroom 3 still, just let it install via Lightroom 3, it’ll still be there and working in Lightroom 4 after a restart (assuming ‘Store Presets with Catalog’ is off, as it is by default). Otherwise go to Lightroom Preferences, click the Presets Tab, then click the ‘Show Lightroom Presets Folder’ Button. Open the ‘Lightroom’ Folder. Inside search for a folder called ‘Web Galleries’ (capitals are important here). If it’s not there, create it. Open this folder and drag the .lrwebengine file into it. Restart Lightroom.

That should be it.

On Mac you could right click the .lrwebengine file and choose ‘Get Info’ and change the file to open with Lightroom 4, then double click it instead.

LRB Portfolio and LRB Showcase updated for Lightroom 4

New code that applies the correct preview code for either Lightroom 4 or earlier versions has been added to both LRB Portfolio 2.9 and LRB Showcase 1.11. Portfolio also adds the new contact icons from Exhibition, along with bug fixes.

More work will be done on LRB Showcase in the coming weeks to add more features, allowing it to act as a one gallery website, instead of merely a gallery.

As with all updates, this is available from the download link that you got on purchase.

LRB Preset Pack Vol 1 Updated

With the advent of Lightroom 4 Beta, I’ve created Lightroom 4 versions of the presets that won’t work with the new Process Version 2012. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to make them exactly the same, but they’re close.

In addition, I created separate JPEG versions for the presets, to ease the load on JPEG users.

And finally, knowing there’s a load of people out there using Photoshop, I also included a set of all the presets for Adobe Camera Raw. Now, in theory the Lightroom 4 Beta presets correspond with a theoretical Camera Raw 7, but as I’ve not seen it (!), I can’t confirm this until it actually exists!

Just to be clear, all of the presets work as normal (i.e. the same as Lightroom 3) in Lightroom 4 Beta using Process Version 2010. If you’ve already processed photos and saved metadata (via Automatically write XMP or via a Save command), then when you import into Lightroom 4 beta, they will be Process Version 2010. New images with no XMP will be Process Version 2012. The new Basic settings ignore older settings like Brightness, Recovery and Fill Light, and have double the amount of Clarity. This is what the new Lightroom 4 Beta presets are for; replacing the ones that don’t work under Process Version 2012.

Looks like the template file had an internal typo, so here’s and updated copy, so that you don’t have to waste a download getting access to a non essential file! If you’re reading this post and haven’t updated to LRB Exhibition 1.3, the updated template is already in the download.

LRB Grads

With the change of Exposure in Lightroom 4 Beta, edits have been made to the LRB Grad Presets to make them compatible with Lightroom 4 Beta, in addition to earlier versions. All new customers gets these versions, and all current customers can get them via their purchase link. The files have been updated to work in both Lightroom 3 and Lightroom 4.

With Lightroom 4 Beta now out, I’m sure you’re wondering about support. While the only real change to the Web module was a change of Preview engine, it also means that the way Live Update works has changed slightly. I’ve code in my test versions that select the right Live Update for Lightroom 2/3 and Lightroom 4.

These versions are being tested and will be released shortly.

As for my Presets, there will be an announcement immediately on Grads, with the Preset Pack getting some love later today. The Preset Pack has additiona. JPEG versions ready to go, along with Camera Raw Presets, but the manual needs to be updated also.
